Looking first at what makes Bitcoin special, and the underlying architecture that makes it the way it is, we saw how we could keep bitcoins design philosophy in mind as we sought ways to design a smart contract platform.

In the next sections, we’ll take a look at Ethereum.

We’ve mentioned it throughout the course thus far.

From what we know so far, Ethereum is a technology upon which people have built countless applications, ranging from decentralized autonomous organizations to online markets for digital kittens.

But now we can finally ask, what exactly is Ethereum and how does it work? As it turns out, leveraging our understanding of Bitcoin’s inner workings makes understanding Ethereum a whole lot more accessible.
